New PCGS UK Registry sets added.

The increase in Registry sets for Great Britain Coins has started with Crowns and Half Crowns up and running.
I will be interested if this creates much interest.
BTW this is not a bash slabbed coins or the Registry Craze! opportunity.
I donot have many graded but they are listed to act as a start up.

These crowns need to be broken down into Young Head, Jubilee Head, and Old Head.
The half crowns should be at least should be broken into Young Head (actually, several variants in the headbands), the later Young Head (lower relief), Jubilee, and Old Head.
The same goes for all series, and denominations for the Registry concept to be realistically feasible.
Even a basic type set with gold and without would garner the most interest, IMO.
If date sets are de rigour in PCGSs thinking, then I would think copper will garner more registries than any of the others.
There's my initial quids worth.

<< <i>At least Elizabeth II crowns should be easy enough to complete

They rarely do for darkside ... let along greyside. I wonder if they even know how to use the Charlton Catalog let alone Spink's. Some of the Elizabeth II Canadian sets still need work tho' they are starting to fix some of the mistakes they made there. I guess they finally figured out there were no 2001-P Loonies ...
Personally, I wouldn't mind some variety in the UK sets provided they could learn to break things up by monarch and major variety within monarchs. Guess they still need some work on the UK crowns tho' ... unless they don't consider any crowns minted after 1970 to be true crowns but rather 25p coins. Oh well ... time to start pestering to see if any of the minor coinage both pre and post decimalization will be included.

<< <i>Just curious... what is the interest here? I like UK coins but I have yet to do the Registry... There is something to be said about sharing and the pictures, but I still have conceptual issues with rankings and the whole notion that collections can be ranked... >>
For me it would be something different than all the hype and high prices on the lightside ... while some darkside can be pricey ... imagine if it were the same mintages on the lightside. As far as ratings go ... go by mintage figures if and when available?

I don't recall them dropping in here to ask us what we think, or did I miss that?

As for mintage figures... George I and George II Crowns likely have low mintages. Charles II Crowns do not, however, high grade examples that are well struck are tough. William and Mary Crowns are also tough in high grades. The Crown date sets will be a bit of a challenge to complete.
I think one must look at surviving pops and how many have been graded. I am not sure if PCGS publishes or provides pops of graded world coins

<< <i>How do they decide about the new Registries? How much will I have to wait for a Swiss one? PCGS has graded (and overgraded) way too many Swiss coins ever since their Old Green holders, I think that it will create much interest ,competition and a readjustment of the prices of some undervalued coins too.

PCGS has been promising a Swiss registry for at least 2 years. Compared to the UK complexities the Swiss registry would be pre-K material.

I'd be curious to know who -- if anyone -- they are listening to if it's not us. I'm guessing there has to be some logic behind which sets are added when.
Maybe if you submitted 1,000 or more Swiss coins at once your question might be answered.

As I recall, the first British sets were added just after Dr. Turner had his collection of British gold graded.

It would depend on the nature of the organ in question.
