Stone, I think you should send in your free subs this week!!!

Stone,

I know you're on this 8.5-step program or whatever, but I think that submitting your 6 or 12 cards to PSA would still be within the confines of your new collecting/spending ethics. If you declared their value very low, you could ship them all back to you for $12 or so.

What cards are you thinking of submitting, and, What say you?

image

P.S. Does anyone have any suggestions for Stone?

My suggestion is for everyone to send Stone a surprise gift of a card or piece of memorabilia for his recent birthday.

He could post them on his "mail call" thread. Then he can have his pick of what to submit.

Thanx for the kind words guys.

Ya don't have to send anything...

Just the thought is a gift!

    Now...

Had the 10x loupe out and was looking - I was getting sick at how bad some cards look!

So far the list goes like this:

    Ryno RC - 8 or 9.
    75T mini Ryan - 8
    T206 Davis - 4
    1915 CJ Groom - 4
    82T Ripken - 8 or 9
    78T Dawson - 8 or 9

I'm not much at looking at cards and looking for the best ones - to be honest.

I like them all for what they are - pieces of history.
    Well that's it.
    thanx for the thoughts
    your friend

    Hi guys

    Grades popped!

I'm more than happy - look at my guess - the only surprise - the Dawson - not an expensive card - must have missed something?

    I feel really good!
The 9 on the mini Ryan is off the chart! I was given that card from a guy who shared my table! The two vintage at 6 is thru the roof! The Ryno is good/ok.

thanx for yelling at me to move my dead ass!!!

    Stone -

Great grades. 1975 Topps Mini Ryan in PSA 9? Fabulous! That's a pop 12 and is probably worth a ton of money!
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

Anyone get the feeling if it took Mike this long to send in a 206 that was a six and a 1975 topps mini Nolan Ryan that was a nine,
he might just be sitting on a goldmine of cards?? I would have had a card like that to PSA in no time flat. What else you got
    sitting around at home???

Really, congrats on the grades. That is just awesome!!!

    Mike,

For what it's worth, we all know most people hate cards that are OC. It kills the value.

That being said, a 1975 mini Nolan Ryan PSA 9 OC was snatched up for $175 last week!!!

You'd probably get $500-$600 for your straight nine, more on a good day, less on a bad. (you know how auctions are)

Either way, great card!! And to think it was given to you?? You might wanna buy that guy a beer!!! Better yet, don't tell him.image

    Mike...

Congratulations, those are great grades. image

I don't think you gave yourself enough credit when looking at them. Only one was less than expected, the others were on or better.

    Great job...

Thanx for the kind words guys.

    Cards shipped today.

Probably registered which is a slight drag since I doubt I'll see the PO person? Unless they come Fri or Sat.

I will definitely post the pics.

They always look better in the holders!

Now, don't anyone PM me, all at once, for the Dawson 6! image

Great grades. You must have missed a crease or maybe slight paper loss on the Dawson.

Mike - congrats! I'm assuming that's the 75 Ryan you had on your website? I knew it was somethng special the first time I saw the scan - nice to know PSA agrees with me!

Good morning - the PO lady got me out of the bed!

I knew it was a certified package.

On the Dawson 6 - I missed a crease in the ballfield dimension area! Can't see how but that's what happens when you "assume" and concentrate on the corners and obverse gloss!

I'm gonna post the Ryan in the long running thread on the registry channel also.

Thanx for looking and encouraging me to send something in...

    I almost didn't! image

Under any loupe, you will find frayed corners not as noticeable on the screen.

    And the Ryno:

    and the Rip:

Here's what I missed on the Dawson:

    image

I really can't say how I missed it but the front is a blazer. A scratch/wrinkle at home plate!

Mike, I just noticed this thread. I recall you posted a scan of the mini Ryan raw a while back, and I knew it looked sharp. As I saw your expectations for it (an 8) I had a feeling you were underestimating it. Great job on the 9, card looks great!

Mike, the dawson card looks great!

In my opinion, surface wrinkles shouldnt lower a card grade as much as they do.
