I am working so much that I do not have free time to devote to the hobby............

..........any suggestions on how to fix that?

The only one I can think of is to make my wife and kids disappear so that my expenses plummet. When the expenses plummet, my need for $x dollars in income will drop, and thus my need to work longer hours to earn $x dollars will drop and I will have free time.

I have not even been spending much time on the forums lately (to the glee of some and to the angst of others?). Maybe later this week I can get back into the saddle. Come to think of it, I have a court hearing out tomorrow afternoon and a coin shop I have found some good stuff at is nearby. I think post court visit to the shop before returning to the office is in order.

I find that between 11pm and 1am is the perfect time to work on the hobby. After my son goes to sleep and the chores are done around the house. image

I find that I go thru periods of heavy activity and light activity.....

Nothing is wrong with this, this often occurs at the same time as when I am busy with other stuff.....

Try and getting a book or something if you don't have the cash, that is cheaper and it certainly can take time.....

I completly stopped for a few years once, but I found my way back. I'd say your family is the most important thing!

You're on the right track but it's hard to get rid of kids and expensive to get rid of the wife.

Put 'em to work. This can actually provide you more time and money for coins and it will make
you appreciate them just that much more. Little ones can be set to poking through pocket
change and older ones can get part time work after school. Good luck. image

That is my best time for hobby activities as well. I get a lot of west coast bidders on my eBay auctions that way, too.

Last night was the first night in a couple of weeks that I made a real effort to carve out time. Around 11:00 I broke out the Ott lights and camera and took about a hundred pictures, I think I wrapped up around 1:30. My neighbors must see the glow from the windows and think I'm insane.

Too bad your family doesn't give you a say in how your earnings are spent. If they did, you wouldn't have to get rid of them to cut your expenses.

tmot99, your reply to my pity post has brought me back to reality.

I like what I do for a living. I get to help people who are in situations that they have no ability to deal with and extricate themselves from. I get to deal with interesting cases (yes, including the two recent ones I posted about where coins and thousands of unopened vintage jazz, R&B and soul records are involved) and I have some disposable income that allows me to play in the hobby.

Back to the trenchs for another day. I will stop by the coin shop after my court hearing today and snoop around for some new goodies. If I find any I will let the forum know.
