New card cases...New Lew Alcindor Rookie inside them!

I know everyone here loves PSA slabs, but I really like these cases. I stumbled across them on eBay and the seller only had two. I can't seem to find any more. They are velvet boxes that are hinged much like a jewlery box and they are recessed to hold a 1" screwdown perfect. Anyways I cracked the Alcindor from a 5 and it looks great in this case. You can see all the corners, the angle of the picture just came out funny. What do you think (card/case) ?

It does look pretty cool. It seems like a black backround really displays alot of cards well.

While they certainly present nicely and the make the card seem like something important because they are so thick, I stopped using screw down holders several years ago after I realized that I was actually damaging my cards by using them...

The screw downs will compress the corners of the cards and can cause damage if used for long term storage. The alternate to that is that the screws are not tight enough and the card could move around if the case was ever dropped or got bumped around, possibly exposing corners or edges outside of the holder.

That is a valid point. I guess another alternative is the one screws with the corner cut-outs.

  • Nice holder, would make a good background for scans on ebay or posts for stuff to sell or showoff'.

I think I just ate one of Rick's "retard sandwiches" - I'm having trouble seeing this.

Have I got it right that each special case holds "one" screwdown?

Did the Lew come with the case?

Also: Be careful! That the "velvet" portion does not "shed tiny hair-like" particles, that are a real mess and impossible to clean-up! (They can get into your eyes, nose and throat, and onto your collectibles, so be careful!)

edit: "Velvet hair-like particles get into your nose? Ouch! ...Could be worse than snorting wasabi"! image

Stone- Yes each box holds one 1" thick lucite screwdown. The Alcindor came in a PSA 5 holder, but I set it free.
