PSA Submission Observations

I recently got back a 250 card PSA submission. My grader was "314." The cards came from raw purchases off ebay, unopened boxes from Steve Hart, Mastro auction and SGC crossovers. Here are some highpoints and low points:
(1) 1979 Topps baseball: I sent in around 125 cards from 2 vending boxes. I had posted some of the pictures in a prior thread. The boxes yielded great cards. The cards that I sent I thought were solid 9s with several being possible 10s. I received 1 10, 115 9s, 2 8s and 7 5s. I must have missed some wrinkles. I was happy with the 9s. However, I though "314" was too picky on these cards.
(2) 1978 Topps Basketball: I sent in 42 cards from a vending box. I ended up getting 30 9s and 12 8s. Those grades are probably accurate due to the centering.
(3) 1980 Topps: I sent in 3 Hendersons. I received 2 9s and 1 8. I thought it should have been 1 9 and 1 8 and 1 7. One of the 9s has significant chipping on the edges. This was a miss by PSA.
(4) 1982 Topps Traded: Ripken came back a 5. I missed a wrinkle on the bottom right border.
(5) Raw eBay Purchase #1: I purchased a 1975 Topps Reggie Jackson, 1976 Topps Reggie Jackson, 1976 Topps Aaron and 1976 Topps Ryan raw from a dealer on eBay who only sells raw cards. I have bought around 100 cards from him in the past. His grades are usually deadon. The 4 cards were graded NM+ by him. PSA gave the '75 Reggie a 9, '76 Reggie and Aaron 8s and the Ryan a 7.
(6) Raw eBay Purchase #2: I bought around 30 1957 Topps cards a couple years ago off ebay. I sent 18 in to PSA and sold the other 12 to a board member. The 18 came back with 12 8s and 6 7s. The 8s included Duke Snider, Billy Martin, Herb Score, Pee Wee Reese, etc. I thought the grades were accurate.
(7) Mastro: I bought a 1954 Topps set a couple of years ago from Mastronet. The set was mid to high grade. Last year I had around 90 cards graded PSA 7 and 8. This year I sent in several more. In general the grades exceeded my expectations. The one dissapointment was the Banks came back altered.
(8) Re-Submit: Last year I sent in a 1993 SP Jeter that I pulled from a pack to PSA and it came back as altered. I re-submitted it. It came back an 8.
(9) Crossovers (crack and submit): Sent in a SGC 86 1960 Clemente. It came back a 6. Sent in a GAI 7.5 1994 SP A-Rod. It came back an 8.
My overall opinion is that the grader was (1) too picky on the 1979 Topps, (2) accurate on the 1975 Topps baseball, 1976 Topps baseball, 1978 Topps basketball and 1957 Topps, and (3) too lenient on the 1954 Topps. The one Henderson was either a grading mistake or was mistakenly switched with the 8 when it was holdered. It does not deserve a 9.

Are you selling any of them? I remember there being a nice Vida Blue in there. I am collecting the all stars from 79 and need most of the semi uncommon ones, Blue, Zisk, Money, etc.
If you want to sell any, please PM me.

RonBurgundy: I will be selling the 1957's. I haven't decided whether it will be on eBay or via the board. If I sell on eBay, then I will offer free shipping to board members. Do you have a registry set?
