Beware:One pound 1878 Morgan dollar replica is NOT silver.

It comes in a blue box and is made by the "Washington Mint". It is silver plated copper. Two friends of mine have bought these as silver bullion. Granted no where on the coin does it say it is silver, but it looks just like those pound pure silver rounds that are for sale and even has a serial number. One of my friends who got stuck with this thing is a full time dealer.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Sorry I don't have a picture. Maybe someone can post a picture.

I bought one about five years ago -- purely as a novelty and a neat-looking paperweight for my desk. I think I paid about $10 for it, including shipping. I've lost track of it since then... Anyway, I'm sure many a collector has been fooled by their bullionesque appearance.
