Coin Night in Manila

Last night I had the chance to meet up with justhavingfun and tainohenka from the forum for one of our quarterly coin nights. Lots of great conversation and a few nice coins traded hands. Here are two of the highlights I walked away with! image

Sorry I missed the meeting in Manila - not that I was invited - but I did pick these up in LA.

Nice coins to walk away with.
  • It is so cool that we have our own "Philippines Contingent" on this forum. You guys supply us with the expert advice on our own pieces. It is really nifty when you can get together with a group with the same interests and compare and trade. Keep on keeping us informed in this area.

  • Thank you, Mr. Filam!

Yes, it's a rare chance I get to have an evening like that. Lots of fun to see great coins flying around -- and that 1911-S Peso is a killer coin. Enjoy it.

And Mr Eurkea: Do you collect the Philippine coins -- Spanish-Philippine and/or US-Philippine? Those lovely overstrikes -- most US dealers don't even know they exist.

    Best wishes,

I collected US Philippines for a while but gave up last year. I was just spread too thin and wanted to focus on other things. (You can blame Eliasberg!) As for the overstrikes, I like them well enough but I bought them purely for resale.

Those are a couple of gorgeous coins! I would love to pick up a really frosty eye appealing peso like that one of these days.
