BCCG 10s

Anyone have experience crossing these over?

I'm just curious why someone would not only go with Beckett but go the BCCG route if they could get a PSA 9 grade instead...

Isn't this one of those deals where you will have to look at the card, as such, and not that grade?

I would not be shocked if a bunch of them came back with 7s and 8s?

    Thanks for the input.

I'm definitely a "look at the card, not the grade" guy, but it's hard to tell from scans. Here's an example:
Boggs. Looks centered, sharp, but who can tell?
  • BGGS makes me think of GEM Grading ! Puke !image
My focus, 1970 Topps Baseball Raw and Graded, pre 1989 PSA Hockey and 1933 INDIAN GUM ! Yikes!!

The card ended for a pretty good price but one is not sure what they are getting - plus you will have to pay for regrading and shipping etc. in hopes of getting a 9?

    Here's a PSA 9 with a 33$ BIN.

Which means if you keep an eye out, you could probably get a 9 for like 25$?

Those BCCGs seem like a gamble IMO.

  • Yes, I agree completely with Stone.
Tag on the extra expense for regrading & shipping and you'd
be pretty close to just purchasing one graded a PSA 9 already.
That BCCG 10 Boggs is ugly and the final price looks right because
IMO it's an 8 at best with the bad centering and I can only see the
upper right corner being soft. I'm sure it's probably worse.
  • Anybody that sends in a card to BCCG knows that they sure as hell don't have a gem mint (or even probably mint) card at either PSA or BGS.
  • I have only bought one BCCG card, a rookie Rickey Henderson that was a BCCG 9. I cracked it and sent it to PSA and it came back an 8. I was happy with the 1 grade deduction on the crossover.

They are virtually always solid 8's. I've probbly crossed more BCCG 10's then anybody here and I've never received a 7.
