Stone's Points to Ponder

I was sitting on the throne and all kinds of thoughts raced thru my head...
In no particular order...
1. If I retire my set on the PSA Registry...do I get a pension?
2. If I get a card "doctored" - is it covered by my medical insurance?
3. Why have an ebay "return policy" if you don't let us return stuff?
4. What does Gem Mint mean? How does it differ from Pristine? How far is this from Nirvana?
5. If Lincoln knew his head was gonna be on only a penny? Would he bitch?
6. Where are all the beanie babies?
7. Why is that a dealer will buy my cards stating they're only Exmt and when I come back an hour later they're selling as Nmmt?
8. Why do dealers advertise: "paying top dollar" and when you call them they tell you..."not interested"
9. Why is the "Set" book price way less than the "breakup" value of the set?
10. Why do some dealers write their ads so small you can hardly read them!
11. Why do so many card shops seem to have someone behind the counter who appears to be clueless?
12. Why is it that everytime a card slips out of my hand, it always lands on a CORNER!
13. On the salaries of baseball players...doesn't it seem that "never has so much money gone to so few?"
14. Why do some dealers have a "restocking" fee? How about if we turn around and tell them - "we are demanding a RETURN fee" for our troubles!
15. Since card shows are getting so boring and pedestrian, should that pay US to attend? Just a thought.
16. Who invented liquid soap? And why?
17. Why does Alan Rosen call himself Mr. Mint when he wouldn't know a mint card if it bit him in the ass!!!
Well that's it for this week boys...
The Stoneman is now "regular" and ya just gonna have to wait till next week when he becomes "irregular" and starts to pondering again!

Oh no, simply not true! You can stand on your roof, open the lid of a 1989 Topps baseball vending box, turn the box over, and shake it violently, and I promise you each and every card will land gently to rest on its backside.
You have learned well from the Masta...Grasshoppa...

Stone.. Our regular ol' Andy Rooney (60 minutes).
softparade (is that a Doors reference?)
you can substitute a lot of words for more my collection grows in that statement, like the longer i am married!
that reminds me of an al bundy statement who is even wiser than our man stone when it comes to advice.
it seems al's drivers license had expired and he was in a never ending line at the of license bureau, when he blurts out why doesn't a marriage license ever expire.
You set your snipe too high??
ah zef that i have learned is that if a card is a 1/12 the 13th will be on ebay in a few weeks. i set my snipes much lower and if i lose it, i'll see it again soon. there are reasons there are high pops in top condition even amongst SP cards, whether it is how they were printed or cut of off the sheets.
I feel your pain - I too have been experiencing that as of late. In addition, I would also add...
Why is it that when I started my collection, I had a list of cards I wanted, but now that I've spent lots of $$$ to get quite a few of them, my list is LONGER?
Take it easy,
Jared

I guess the laws of nature apply to collecting also. It was Einstein, in his treatise on the General Theory of Relativity that he concurred with Hubbell in agreeing that the universe was "expanding."
Well....? Ergo? So goes your card collection and want list.
One point I have always pondered is when Superman is getting bullets fired at him, he stands there motionless and takes it as the bullets bounce off him, but when the bad guy runs out of ammo and throws the gun at Superman, Superman ducks.
<< <i>That what happens Mike about a day after eating one of those double cheese pizzas - too much time to think when on the throne for too long - LOL

The amazing thing is that it really is, for the most part 8,000 QUALITY posts. Quite remarkable for being a member for just over two years. Keep up the great posts Mike...you'll be in five figures before you know it - LOL
<< <i>you should get paid at least $1 for each post.. >>
They'd never agree because Mike is the founder of PSG, a major competitive grading company
I've always wondered that.

6. Where are all the beanie babies?
They are in my garage as my wife still believes they will be worth something some day. They compete for space with actual stuff of value like all of my old Sports Illustrateds, game programs, etc.... (Yes, I am joking about my SI's or modern game programs ever being worth anything.)
Do we actually smell that bad?

Why don't isn't the whole plane made out of the stuff that's used to make the black box/voice recorders?
If man evolved from monkeys and apes, why are there still monkeys and apes?
If a man is standing in the middle of the forest speaking and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?
Why don't you ever see the headline "Psychic Wins Lottery"?
Why is "abbreviated" such a long word?
Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?
If the professor on Gilligan's Island can make a radio out of coconuts, why can't he fix a hole in a boat?
If a 7-11 is open 24 hours, why are there locks on the doors?
Why do they put Braille on the drive-through bank machines?
Whose cruel idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have a "S" in it?

Very kind Steve.
Actually 40% of my posts involve some sort of female protruberances!
I want more controversy!
20. Why is that everytime a thread has a scintilla of argumentative controvery, the "pot is stirred" by someone who's been registered with CU for at least 2 years but only has 11 posts?
You want more controversy?
Go over and read what the 50% off thread that i created and read some of the idiotic remarks that a certain poster has made there.
IE Walmart/ ebay sellers (that live in moms basement) , Postal insurance for 3.35, how a single card costs 6.00 to ship, and how a comment made 16 months ago was lamely attempted to be used against someone and of course how simple answers can be construed as mocking.
Plenty of it over there.

Why are Democrats [usually] Pro-Choice, support PETA ardently, and are against the death penalty?
Why are Republicans [usually] Pro-Life, hate PETA, and are in favor of the death penalty?
Seems silly to me and rather contradictory.
