Help with Mary II medalet

Hi,
I posted a pic of a William and Mary medalet on the Colin Cooke thread.
These 1/2 d or 1/4 d sized coins, sometimes called patterns are more likely
as Peck states - "political propaganda medalets".
The history behind these was that James II fled England after William (III)
of Orange landed with a large force of soldiers.
Parliament eventually offered the throne jointly to William and his wife Mary.
They ruled jointly from 1689 to 1695 when Mary died.
All three of these that I have are farthing sized.
This one is M19 Montagu's number - in silver.

I don't understand the symbolism of the reverse.
The Latin is something like, "from night, day"
Best guesses?
