Britannia Proofs

What do you think of these coins? I think they look neat because of their designs and low mintages. Any specific reccomendations? Also, do you think they have good potential? Thanks! Any advice is appreciated!

Of all the modern rounds, I like the Britannias best, with some pretty nice designs.

I will for the moment assume you mean the silver proofs. Some of the earlier issues have already escalated tremendously in value. The more this is realized, however, the more the Royal Mint will overcharge for future issues, making them have less "investment" potential, in my opinion.

That said, other more informed and wiser members should jump in here.

I was waiting for someone else to post first, but I agree image

beautiful coins... take a liteside example of the mint silver proof sets ? the earliest now go for like 400+ because people realize after the fact (after they have a later proof) they want to complete thier sets, so they need to backfill, that being said, more people will have the more recent examples ... in a simplistic view...

i say if you like the coin and can get them at a reasonable price, do it, just dont go nuts after the earliest examples unless you really want to commit to the series. tough to predict what coins will do, or we'd all be rich image

  • I only have one, but I like the silver Britanias.....
  • I like them, low mintage and high quality.

The only one of the silver proofs I am missing is the 1998.

The 1997 I got in the 4 coin set last month on eBay for $120 for the whole set of four. 2004 and 2005 straight from the mint.
