I don't think there's anything wrong with contacting people about what they might need as long as your not pushy about it. You can ask politely and they can accept or politely refuse.

It seems a little spamish to me but if the person you contact wants to buy some then I guess its okay.

On the other hand, some could consider spam - and perhaps rightly so. I see you have 3 posts and are a new member. If that's why you came here, perhaps that was not the best reason. Don't mean to be harsh - just a warning about spamming. A lot of people don't like it.

People....people....we ALL have the choice to list our contacting email on the Registry. Most people do list it...hoping that others might help them out...or making themselves available to help other collectors themselves...

If they don't want help..or to be contacted...they can choose not to make their email available..

But to consider it spam.......cummon!! Under the thoughts of trying to help each other out....if it's in good faith and in the Registry family...it should all be good...

It's not like the guys trying to send porno..or posting endless lists of crap to buy....Beckett is full of that...

mrbud...if you're trying to help out another member, I'm sure MOST will be willing to atleast talk about possible help with their sets. There are however alot of varying opinions here, as you will learn....welcome aboard!!

I'm also a new member but a long time collector.

I speak for myself only when I say that I would appreciate it in most cases, even if I wasn't interested in what you were selling. If people were contacting me about the things I love and have been looking for that's one thing and that would be exceptable (for me). But if I need pills for lack of boner, I'll just go see the Doc.

Set registry members who do not want to be bothered with offers or trades either hide their set or do not show an email address.

    Mr bud

If they have left an email address with the set then BY ALL MEANS do contact them. That is one of the reasons why the email address is left. Spam is when someone posts what they have on the forum. Please email Winpitcher with any mars attacks and or 65, 55 topps card you may have that i do not.

    Good for you.

That is exactly why I added my email address to all of my registry sets. Now, if only rbd would gets sick of some of the 10s in his '76 Topps set..........
Collector of 1976 Topps baseball for some stupid reason.
Collector of Pittsburgh Pirates cards for a slightly less stupid reason.

    Hi mrbud

First, I would like to welcome you!!!

Next, do you also sell coins? Just curious, based on your choice of avatar.

I agree, someone wouldn't leave their email address if they didn't want to be contacted.

Good luck and I will tell you that this is a tremendous place to discuss cards and memorabilia of any kind!

I"m always greatful when someone emails me to offer a card I need- that is why I put my email next to my sets. I can always say no if I don't like the offer.

How can one possibly collect in a vacuum? It's perfectly OK to contact another Registry member to discuss a trade -- that's what collecting is all about!!! If someone doesn't like it, they can remove their email address from the registry.
