The serial number on that Mantle starts with a zero, but it has the newer font on the label and the square white box as opposed to the rounded corners of the earlier graded cards. Does this happen when a card is reholdered? Not bashing the auction, just curious how that works.
A possible bump from a 8? If so, it probably deserved it. >>
No - from the old-style holder, reholdered into the new style holder.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
~"I seem to remember an SGC 96 51 Bowman Mantle that sold not too long ago. Anyone rememeber what that sold for?"~
The last SGC 96 sold in a Lelands auction for around $37,000 I think. BMW sold one before that for $75,000. I cannot recall that the $75,000 card was that much better but it did sell first.
Fletch1750 - Thanks for the correction. I was going from memory. I just checked my database and it was Heritage Auctions from September 2004 that sold an SGC 96 Mantle for $38,240.
