Die state: effect on grade?

Hi David.
Does die state have much effect on grade. If I submit a coin that has great luster, no marks, and an average strike, but is a very late die state, can the coin recieve a high numerical mint state grade?

A good example would be a 1954 S/D. They come nice, but most are VLDS. Do they need to be an early die state to get an MS66?

Thanks,
Greg

    Hi Greg,

I do not believe die state is a negative for grade and i don't think we grade that way.

    Thanks,

    David
