2/13/06 Old School Images from dgf...

This one is being cleaned and will be added this March to the "O.S.I." catalog. I was actually scanning it for a collector and as long as I have it scanned...

This is the best pic of Joe I've ever found. It's July of his 1980 rookie season.

I just addes a group of original Mattingly's. This one is from 1985 in Anaheim.

One of my all-time favorite players in genuine laughter. I love this one!

I just got a PM. No, that is not Deion Sanders. It's Ron Gant in his rookie appearance in 1987.

Sweet pics again Phil. I was a huge Ron Gant fan as well. In high school I wore number 5(just by chance) and I played OF so I became a Gant fan because he had my number. I only wish I had the power he had back then.

    Those are some nice shots.

I especially like the Joe C. shot - it has a candid look to it.

    Jordan,
It's funny you mention the number thing. In college I had a cool thing happen. I wore 8 in high school and never much cared for it or bothered with it. It was just a number...you know? But in college when I was about to get my issue I was hoping for something a little snazzier. The night before I got my travel issue we were eating pizza (very unusual for college kids--I digress) and I found myself REALLY wanting a cool number. I had figured out the numbers I DIDN'T want, but figured I would have a low number as I was small (little league mentality). I almost collapsed when they gave me #22. Jack Freakin' Clark! I was freaked out. It was one of the happiest instants of my life. Of course, as a leadoff hitter, my game was not modeled after "The Ripper" at all, but I sure dug him! In LL & Pony league I always wore #13. Tradition rather than circumstance. That #22 meant more to me than a rational person could understand. The gang on the hill at home games would sing "little deuce deuce" instead of "little deuce coupe" when I would walk or hit to start a game. Teammates refered to me as "two-squared", which we know is actually 4, but college athletes ain't much inta book learnin'. Good times. I miss 'em. I'm having a "Bundy moment"... 'four touchdowns in ONE game, Peg.' Anyway, I'm glad you're a loon like me.
