Wow - very nice submission. A lot of BGS 9 turning into 10s.

Collecting Tony Perez PSA and Rookie Baseball PSA

  • Wow! Either you know somebody or PAID somebody!!! That's not only a LOT of 10's but a fantastic high percentage! I don't see that Wagner or Mantle in there though...

Seriously - can I send you my cards before I submit them? You seem to have a really great eye!!! Congrats!

  • Did you break the cards out of the slabs yourself or did you submit them as is with a minimum grade in mind?

    Cheers! Wick

Wick, I busted them out and sent them raw. Bgs slabs are real easy to bust.

Thanks Dave, Actually I was hoping for three more. I sat in my room for hours at a south facing window, really picking through these cards. The Favre, Smith and Faulk I thought had a shot at a 10. I am happy overall though.

  • That's a hell of a lot of bgs crossovers, what were the subs on those puppies?

The bottom left is the 1994 marshall faulk rookie exchange and the bottom right is 1994 marshall faulk frequent scorer

What was the deal with the 89 ud griffey? Were you expecting it to go from an 8.5 to a 10?

That's a heckuva leap, dollarwise, but I wonder if that crossover would have happened back when 10's were selling for thousands instead of hundreds?

  • This rules down a lot of speculation regarding the increasing laxity of BGS......

Actually its great! All those bgs cards were cards I submitted from my stash. I knew they deserved better grades then what beckett gave them. I know everyone that gets grades lower then what they expected say this but in this case it was true.
  • This rules down a lot of speculation regarding the increasing laxity of BGS......

Not necessarily. In the early days of BGS, they were extremely tough graders. BGS wanted to establish their reputation so as to graner premiums for their cards. I stopped submitting to them because I didn't need them to gain a reputation off of my cards.
Anyway, early BGS cards with strong sub-grades, have a very strong chance of crossing over or even being upgraded. Recent BGS grading are a whole different story.image

Yeah but only 2 of those are old BGS flips....

<< <i>Yeah but only 2 of those are old BGS flips.... >>

One of them graded a psa 10. The other "newer" flips ranged from Aug 2004 to Feb 2005. So really they are not that new. Untill recently I bought bgs and psa graded cards. Now I am only doing psa. Bgs quality has gone down tremendously in a very short time period. Basically in the last year. I will post the crossovers with the corresponding bgs flips on the mail call thread later tonite.

This was my point. In any case, awesome results!
