What is up with the 1974 Topps Football Set?

The last two complete sets went for $331 and $525 (the sets sold by shaqfu1 are missing cards). My Football Beckett has the set listed at $300. The sets were raw also.
The only big rookies I can see are Ahmad Rashad, Harold Carmichael, and John Hannah. And Hannah is the only HOF'er RC. Are hand 1970's sets that difficult to find in NM-MT raw condition?
