Do Auction Houses Talk up your coins until they get them..

submitted to auction??
Then they seem to calm down on them.

Example, I submitted some scarce DARKSIDE coins after discussing them
with the auction house. After submitting them and getting them graded
by NGC (at better grades then I first discussed). The coins have a
lower value expectation. Did they forget what they said, or do you think
it's because now they have them and they want to cover themselves.
Just wondering your opinion.
I know I should have asked them, but I felt a little weird about it.

I believe some auction houses may give low estimated values, then when the coins sells for a lot more they can advertise 'sold for twice the estimated value' or something similar.

    I agree with Ajaan.

They also want to make sure every coin sells, so they can get their commission. That's why the list 'em low.

Yes. "Sold for twice the estimates" is a common Tout.
