Now i've seen it all!!

I saw an item i was interested in on eBay--a 1964 photo tattoo, which had one side (with the player) visible. However, since it's easy to trim these things, i wrote to the seller and asked to see a scan of the other side (then i could tell from this side if the item was complete or not). He wrote back and said "the other side was perfect", and didn't send the scan. I wrote back and said i was glad "it was perfect" but said i'd still like to see the scan, so i could see what i'm buying. He wrote back and sarcastically said "if his word wasn't good enough, he'd rather i didn't buy it"! So i tried one more time, and politely explained that some of those tattoos are trimmed, and unless you're familiar with these issues, it's hard to tell from just seeing that one side. So his final reply was this: "Please Please do not bid. I don't have a return policy and don't want to deal with such pety issues. I enjoy selling to those who don't want items EXACTLY like they looked the day they were made......". I have copied word for word what he wrote.

Can you believe that???? I guess some sellers just don't care what they sell, as long as they can get some sucker to buy from them!

  • Well that pretty much describes the track our economy has been on for about the last 20-30 years. Just buy cheap cr*p and throw it away when it breaks. And sellers now just stock the shelfs, you buy it, and they restock it. Oh? You say there is something wrong with the item you bought. Well - send it back to the manufacturer, because the retailer is no longer responsible for what he sells. And if you want the retailer to stand behind the prodcut, then just buy that expensive little extended warranty thingy for about 30% of the cost of the iem itself.

OK, off the soap box. Sounds like a power-seller who deals in volume rather than quality. It's probably best for both of you not to deal with each other. image And yes, some sellers don't care what they sell.

Of course, if you put a little linky to that auction, maybe several of us could ask him some questions... imageimage

This is both inherently stupid and tragic.

Would not want to dignify the response with anything more.

I make it a habit to never buy from a guy whose FB hovers around my body temperature! Or is that his IQ?

If link is correct. Seller ended the listing early. Too many questions I guess.

    Ended listing?

You guys....LOL... this is not the first time a group of us bombard a dubious seller with questions and set him off tail between legs. Got to love it!

I gotta think that with the wasted time and energy the seller spent "arguing" with you, he could have just quickly did the scan, e-mailed it to you, and then he's got another possible bidder for the item, and another potential customer in the future for other items. Simply laziness and bad business on his part.
  • Well, interestingly this same seller has some OTHER tattoos for sale, from the same year! However, i noticed THOSE tattoos are not as "questionable" in their appearance--they do NOT appear to be cut off, and have the usual paper loss from where the glue held them together. The Colavito one had obviously been cut off, and he KNEW it, and didn't want to expose this fact by revealing the other side of the tattoo!
