3 Mark 1924

I have been offered to buy some 3 Mark 1924 coins with various mintmarks for a reasonable price if purchasing them all. How ever, I have never been much into the Weimar period when collecting, but I think I some where read something about that this coin type also cirkulates as restrikes!? Is this so? Also include two pics of two of the coins if anyone know how to see if its fakes or not.

I have never heard about restrikes or forgeries of this series. They appear to be real and generally speaking they were poorly struck (by normal German standards). The good one is the 1925D. I checked Jaeger and he says the only one that is faked is the 1924D, I am a collector of German 3 marks and this is probably the worst set of planchets and dies used for the German Weimar series.3mark
If I may ask... I know that the catalouge list these coins rather high but what are the above coins worth in your opinion? Just curios as I know little about Weimar coins overall and even less about current market value, which might be good to know in case I need to decide to go on with a deal or not with the seller.

This is only a SWAG and for their condition (about XF), I would guess around $30 for common dates and $40 for harder mints (24G and 24J).
The 1925D, if included is a different story. BTW, I checked the germancoins.com site to see if Ron had any in this condition and he did not.3Mark

If you happen to have any duplicates I may be interested in purchasing them for my collection. This would help offset your total cost of the coins that you keep.
Regards, and good find... How many are you looking at?
