1933 Colorado Century of Progress So-called Dollar Slabbed (and conservatively graded) MS63

This medal is a lovely 1933 Colorado Century of Progress HK-870 so-called dollar. It is graded very conservatively by ANACS as an MS63. It could have easily gone MS64 or MS65 in my view. Nowadays, ANACS is much "tighter" than NGC on these medals in my own humble opinion.
This medal features a scene of mining activity on the obverse (this medal has the same artwork as is on the Lesher Dollar but is much cheaper to buy than a Lesher). The reverse has the seal of the State of Colorado. These were made in 1933 for the Century of Progress world's fair in Chicago and the reason for their minting is variously told. Some say they were made to finance the Colorado exhibit at the fair whilst others say the medals were made as a political statement in favor of backing currency with silver. The obverse does bear the motto "Use Silver to Restore Prosperity." The mintage is a mere Ten Thousand (10,000) and many of those made were surely melted during the several silver booms after minting. For those just starting a so-called dollar or medal collection, as well as for the experienced collector building a set, the HK-870 is a wonderful choice.
This nice medal is nearly all white. The strike is excellent as is the luster. This medal is easily one of the nicest HK-870's I have seen. The purchase price is $125 (including shipping).
