1984 Topps Nestle question

I am preparing a submission for my Graig Nettles master player set and before sending it off I had a question regarding this card. Last submission it was returned raw along with a free grade submission to compensate me for the fee but without explanation.

Any reason why PSA would not grade this issue? Should I resubmit it or will the same thing happen?

Thanks for any help!

    The same thing will happen.

I do not think that PSA grades these anymore, as they may have been cut from a sheet. Marc (mikeschmidt) knows more about the reason(s) why they do not grade as well as Jay (qualitycards) than I do.

I have heard this before. They also dont grade the Topps Rub Downs from the mid 80's either. This has begged the question and I think still does is if these cards should still be included in player sets. To me they shouldnt if PSA will not grade anymore of them. I think there is unopened Rub Downs out there somewhere. So the pops could increase but will never get the chance. Unfair to those who came along after the change in policy. Though they may have had the cards since the year of manufactor.

  • All the 1984 Nestles were sheet cut so PSA decided no longer to grade them (they used to grade them). I really think they should grade them and just note "hand cut" like other issues.

  • Thanks for the help and explanation - much appreciated!

Luckily this card was not included in the master set for Nettles so I was going to request it be added after getting my grade.

It is my understanding if PSA no longer grades a set (like 84 Nestle) they will take it out of the Master sets. Some remain but if you request removal my experience is they will. I have had cards taken out of the Perez Master set for these reason.

  • When did they stop grading rubdowns? I sent a couple in last year at this time and they graded both of them.

    Thanks

    Randy,
Do you have the Bretts graded by PSA?
Yeah, I uploaded that KC icon in 2001

I do. I have the '84 in PSA 10 that I picked up on e-bay about two years ago. Last year, about this time, I submitted 2 '85 rubdowns. Both came back as 9s. I sold one and kept one. I have a couple more raw '85s that I was considering sending in, but I guess I won't.

    Thanks

I had heard that PSA didn't grade the Nestles anymore, but that one must have been graded before they decided to stop. Any idea on the population of them? They don't show up on the registry, so I wonder if one could find out.

Do you have any of the other Brett Nestles?

I bought the #500 Brett in SGC 96 a few months ago.

By the way, very nice Brett collection you have there. I really like that '75 OPC.

According to the pop report, PSA has graded 259 of them.

and about 10,000 let ungraded? I would think PSA would take these as submissions again just for the revenue? I know I have a Ryan and Brett waiting for the day they say send them in!

PSA has not graded the Nestle's for at least 4-5 years. Thankfully - I have all the Schmidts graded by PSA - but I'm probably going to send a few off to SGC soon, as they are grading Nestle's. It is ridiculous for PSA to not grade these. Oh well.
