SGC to PSA comparison...

Where would my Topps '58 Mantle All Star, graded "EX-NM 80" by SGC end up on the PSA scale?

If it crosses straight over it would be a PSA 6.

Another thing to consider is the centering. Since SGC does not put qualifiers on their grades a nice card(sharp corners,EX Surface etc..) which could get a 8OC from PSA could easily be graded a SGC 80 6 with their system.

With that red background, it may look great in the SGC holder.

  • I have had luck crossing between psa and sgc... with no cracking.

I have only had trouble with BGS crosovers... cracked or uncracked...

I like my pre 1960 non-topps in SGC holders beause it makes them look good in any grade...

Old SGC grade or new one? Does it have the 1-10 scale under the "80"?

I've had good luck cracking SGC and submitting to PSA- if the centering is OK they stay the same or go up a grade.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

Great info everyone and I agree with the opinions about the black SGC holder. I wasn't gonna crack it but being more familiar with PSA's scale I just wanted to be able to equate it.

It appears that it is a "new" SGC grade as it does have a 6 there also (good call donato). I'm still in the learning phase about graded cards and didn't realize it was there. Is this SGC's way of providing a comparison of their grades and PSA/Beckett?
