I realize that you included the "winky" face, but I can't tell whether you think $7.00 is high or not. With insurance, even UPS Ground is going to be approx. $20

I wish I had a couple 1965 PSA 10's that both of these guys needed. I'd throw in registered shipping for no extra charge image

  • Jesus I like spending money on cards like the next guy however with my mortgage and taxes etc this seems like a really frivelous purchase. I guess I am jealous that I do not have that much disposable income. People really have money and money and money

Good thing (for sellers) there are people like that who for some reason or another just refuse to use a sniper program.

Just imagine winning that and living in ILL? add 8% sales tax to that.

Now if I was to spend 5k plus on a card I think I would put that into a Ruth. JMO

    Steve-

I'm pretty sure that the yellow in the "W" you're talking about is a smudge/scrape on the slab, but I could be wrong. I know better than to get into an argument with you!

Hey now - 2000 posts all of a sudden! And some were even quality stuff!

I said some but not most.

    hat's a sweet 7...what's bringing it down?

the t/b centering and the lower left corner is a tad soft. the back is chip free. I have 8's that look worse. It is a hi end example that is for sure.

    Steve

Mud For the money I want the 7. my whole set has been put together for less then what 4 of those Oliva's will bring. hey whatever floats ya boat i say. 5 guys want that card bad enuff to bid on it. prolly 100 or more would love to own it too.

    Good for you.
  • Too bad I need money for closing costs ! I could start building a Gem Mint 1965 set instead! That's crazy!! Insane folks!
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!
  • My brother's response to this auction link . . .

"I've already got this card in awesome shape, 4 sharp corners just a smidge off center, so it's probably a PSA 2."

less than three hours and now at $5700. that seller is doing cartwheels and praying someone doesn't back out.
  • ctsoxfanctsoxfan Posts: 6,246 ✭✭
And, that's the hammer - $5,700. But, something sure seems odd about this purchase, versus what the winning bidder has been buying recently on Ebay.

    Ctsox I agree!

plus i find it odd how the underbidder bids all week long and would not throw in a bid there at the end?

I think a few of those guys got caught up in the bidding and are RELIEVED that they did not win that thing.

dont get me wrong it is a nice card, centered well. but it has a few flaws that take it out of the gem category IMO. Gem IMO is flawless. front and back.but Im old school when it comes to grading.

that slash of yellow in the W and the print dot in the purple name plate field. I also see a dot in the upper right in the bleachers.

also that card should have had in retrospect a better scan. I hope some of those guys asked for one but by the looks of the bidding how could they have?

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • A761506A761506 Posts: 1,309 ✭✭✭
I too wonder about that winning bidder... it would really be a bummer if they didn't come through with the money... slim chance it would go even close to that high if it had to be relisted.

I love collecting cards for the cards themselves, but I also have to keep in mind the financial aspect, in case I ever decide to refocus or need to cash out... this card just rings of a poor investment.
