Every week now there's new top-pop Lincolns, after a year of almost none at all.

Now there's 2 new ms67rd 57-p's, pop 3 to 5. Also a new ms67rd 64-d and 72-d. What's up?

Coin market is hot. Everyone is digging into there ungraded stashes and pulling the best out for grading.

Isn't it obvious? It's an even-numbered year so grading standards have loosened again. Quick, crack out all of those 66's you got holdered in '05 and resubmit them!

  • Will PCGS make a pop 1 coin? Seems like to me If there is One MS67 of a date you will never see a MS68. Does that make sense.

Or better yet, who's to say someone doesnt wonder along a once in a lifetime find and make a top pop MS69 when the previous top was MS67.

Theoretically it should happen. I understand some dates just wont grade.... but I believe there is no date where a top pop has a 2nd tier two grades down.

Is grading relative to the date or coin by coin.

Thats the problem with the grading services. From what I have learned here it seems like they assign prices rather than grades.

  • I wonder who's making those top pops!imageimage

SURE THEY WILL! I got lucky once and made a 76-S Silver MS69 Kennedy...Even though I was looking
    for a 68 Silver Ikeimage
That was a couple of years ago and there hasn't been another.....Hopefully, I'll get lucky again and make the
    first 76-S Silver MS69 Ike!.....Yeah right!,...I about fainted on the Kennedy!image

  • The new pop 1/0 ms68 1973 was just removed from the pop report! Phew! (I didn't believe that date existed that nice, and besides, I want to be the next to make a pop 1 Lincoln!).

So I got 3 of the new low pop ones, an ms67 1963 that graded ms66 last spring but is no way no how only an ms66... an ms67 1967 that is also very deserving of the grade... a 1969 that to be honest is very low end for an ms67 (although I maintain this may prove to be nearly the third toughest date in ms66 and ms67 after 63-d and 73-s)...

I just got a bulk order of 100 coins, easier dates, 68-s,76-d,80-d,81 and about 15 graded ms66 and the rest were returned as lower! That is ridiculous. All 25 1981-p's were equally as nice or nicer than the 25 78-d's in my last bulk, for which 17 graded ms66 and 8 graded ms67 (zero returned!). The grading is just plain tight or loose, submission to submission.

  • PCGS is counting on guys like you. Take it easy and be extra tough on the coins you send in. They'll just knock you down if they know you'll get up and take another swing.

    Jack,
Particularly with the modern Lincoln's, I couldn't agree with you more.
