Just thought I would try and post the entire thread from the lightside forum since I posted after following the link and didn't see it here on the darkside where I thought I was replying...

Can you imagine the popularity of these if they just said "50 cents"??

Although not truely coins, they are generally accepted as commemoratives by collectors.

I'd really like to have a pair of these in my collection.

Very neat on the coolness scale...call me lazy but does anyone know the reason behind the thin and the thickerer versions???

It's quite nice to see them with attractive patina, they don't normally come like that. For a very long time these have been considered an optional but important part of the early commem set.

There's a dealer in my area that has quite a stash of these, including four of the gold ones.

Neat! I had no idea these even existed... They don't really fit into the scheme of things I collect but then

again I like the looks of 'em so I guess that makes them eligible for my "collection"

Where do I find 'em and what would one set me back? What are they made of?
