Griffeys hat and turtle neck are purple instead of blue. I have seen one in person. I don't know how rare they are or if they are even recognized in the hobby?
The 1990 Upper Deck variation just ended on ebay and I missed bidding. I thought I was going to get it for the opening bid but fell asleep.

Does anybody have any of the 90 Tetley Tea Discs? This came in a 2 panel and all the ones that are on the left have a fold mark. If you have one without the fold mark I would be interested in it?

Can someone lead me to an online price guide for every Griffey card? I am doing the master set list
and BJ needs prices for the cards so it will speed up the process? Not sure why but that is what she needs from me?

  • I don't know much about it since I haven't seen any of its kind. It is part of the MLB Showdown Sports Card game, but all the other cards that I've seen don't have the silver foil stamp. I had asked here a couple of months ago and no one really had much to say about them.

    Is this card worth anything?

I live in Cincy but not a fan of the Reds or JR, but I agree I think he is going to have the best season of his career this year..

I doubt its worth much but you never know? I see it on kgjonline for 3.00 and he is pretty high so maybe a 1.50?

  • Hey guys, I saw this thread about Griffey Jr. and was wondering if anyone would be interested in a wax case of '89 Donruss that I have. It's sealed and has been sitting in my attic for years, If anyones interested PM me a fair offer and I'll consider.

    Thanks,

  • I just bought his 89 UD card in a PSA 9 for $37. I used to own this card in a PSA 9, but I sold it many years ago for $300! Buy low and sell high image

I have a hard time spending any money on any of his rookies, other than the Bowman Tiffany they are all cheap and easy and often hit Ebay.
The days of making a killing on Griffey are pretty much over unless you have a stack of some tougher card that you paid nothing for. i e :
90 Leaf Preview,91 Donruss Preview,90 Donruss Blue White(if one exists?),Some Tiffanys , Desert Storm , 93 Refractor , maybe some auto's or game used seriel # card. I will say that BGS out sells PSA 2 to 4 times a PSA in the same grade.

Here is the next variation I will be looking for. I have the double asterisk and I am guessing this may be a way to tell factory set from pack issued cards?Sort of like the 91 Donruss variations , they just happen to be on the front.

Are you refering to the set that came in the cello packs in the plastic tray? I think I have that card image

I think the cello packs in a tray is Donruss Baseballs Best. The card he is refering to is from the regular set.

The card I am refering to is a double sided 90 Donruss design with a player on each side. One side is blue and the other side is white. Very
tough and expensive! I am still not sure if Griffey is in the set or not. I know Schmidt is.

Search Aqueous on this board. There was a thread about Aqueous and Blue/White with a of couple advanced collectors of these sets who will know if Junior is in there. There is a reference to a guy who posts here that had a few to sell. He had some on ebay a while back. Good Luck

Well went to Shea yesterday and Griffey didn't play! I have been waiting for this game since I bought tickets in Feb. ! Didn't even see him.....
On a good note say Pedo pitch and David Wright homer 2x. So it wasn't all that bad. I thought for sure with 2 on in the 7th down by 4 he would have pinch hit for Freel the centerfielder.
