$3300 in bids for 10 1980 Topps Basketball PSA 10's

Nice cards.

Always loved this set. This fella is serious about putting together a nice one. I have to admit, the PSA 10's look sweet. But at $300 a card? Plus, he just met the reserve, so who knows how high he's willing to go.

Again, nice set, but I think it would look good in 9's as well.

  • I wish clueless people would bid on my Ebay auctions. What a waste of money. Think of the quality pre-war card/cards you could by for that amount of money.

Why are they considered clueless? cuz they do not collect what you do, or collect what you sell?

    Good for you.

  • Well I'm working on the Bucks team set from that year and I would love some 10's but that is a lot of $$

because 8/9/10 is basically the same card graded on a different day... I agree, what a waste of $$

I'm all for collecting what you like (I collect Dikembe Mutombo!) but collect $3 cards for $3, not for $300

Yeah, but don't you want the VERY BESTEST graded Mutombo card in the world? So what if it'll cost you a few hundred dollars more. We're talking about the BEST CONDITIONED 1994-95 Fleer (his 3rd year card) in existence!

I personally think a few hundred dollars is a small price to pay for a bigger e-manhood. image

I disagree. I have no 8's in my collection that can be a 10 on any day.

as for the 9's? possibly 2 or 3 (and I have over 50 of them)

    Good for you.

well my last submission of 87 fleer cards were all mint, and I got 8's and 10's in that submission. Funny that the 10 was actually the card with the most corner wear in the lot? Of course, this has nothing to do with the thread.

    Nice 80 BKB cards!

I'm sure anyone here who collects 1980 Topps basketball in high grade would say it is a difficult set to collect in that grade. I put two sets together (raw) back in the early '90s and it's a bear of a set. Not only are print dots very rampant but you're essentially having to judge centering on three separate cards. Alas, PSA 10s may very well carry the premium those revealed.
