PCGS GRADING SUMMIT VIDEO

Has anyone downloaded and watched the Grading Summit video that is posted on the front page of the PCGS website??? It's 101 MB...just wondering if it is worth watching before I download it at home this weekend? Discussions about the 100-point grading system took place between several panelists in Orlando....

Any comments on the video would be appreicated. If you have an argument for or against the 70 pt. and 100 pt. grading system, there are other threads for that!

I have watched the first hour, which was devoted to the panelists' recollections of the free-wheeling grading days of the 60's and 70's as well as the virtues and liabilities of tpg. No big surprises are unveiled, but entertaining anecdotes are plentiful. As a collector who was beginning to take the hobby seriously in the mid-60's (when I was 14 or so), I enjoyed the first hour very much, and look forward to watching the rest.

It's clear that no panelist is much interested in stroking the others' egos; in fact, you might get a few inkilings of professional disdain bubbling to the surface now and then.

I watched the whole 1 hour 37 minute presentation. It was great to see and hear all these numismatists present their thoughts on grading and the 100 point versus 70 point grading scale issue. I thought the format could have been improved a bit by allowing more questions from the floor and less emphasis on the history of grading which most of the audience was well aware. It is GREAT that PCGS not only had this presentation, but also made it available to all of us to watch. There is a lot of insight you can get by actually seeing and listening to David Hall speaking. We who have not had the opportunity to meet him or Dave Bowers or the others personally, can get much from watching this video. I hope PCGS will continue to do this in the future. Steveimage
