I disregard every single e-mail that I get from Paypal. I log on to their site directly to track payments made and received.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

Yeah, I'd received that about a week or so ago. I forwarded it along to Paypal and they confirmed it was a scam. They said to check any emails to see if it references your name. That scam email said something like "Dear Paypal User" whereas the real Paypal emails will say "Dear Joe Schmo" or whatever your name is. So that's one way to know it's fake right away.

I received two scams this week from a "paypal" stating my account had been accessed in Romania. It gives a couple of fake I.P. addresses to make it look legit.

I get them every few weeks also. The best thing to do is to directly access the account yourself not trough any link that they supply and check the activities yourself as mikeschmidt pointed out.

  • I received 2 paypal scam with my full name on it. The email was in html that's why I know it's a scam because I turned off my html to view my email so every html email I get has no graphics only text format. So when I got those the only thing I saw was my name. I checked the email and turned on the html at the bottom and it really looks like I paid for an Ipod auction with unconfirmed address to be send to texas and noting that if I didn't made the payment to "click here" to report to paypal. If I didn't turned off the html graphics in my email I could have been fooled. Actually looks like the paypal receipt of my payment to somebody's (email address). This email address I use for paypal is exclusively for paypal personal account (I used to use it when I sell cheap cards). My ebay account has a different email address. It makes me wonder if somebody can get though ebay's system (auction's programming) when you put on those paypal logo's. I doubt it's yahoo because I didn't use my real name when I created that email address and my nickname ffor my email is only my last name.

Guys be extra careful. I almost panicked when I received one the first time but I remember all receipt of payment that I get from paypal are mostly text form that is I see almost the whole thing except for the paypal logo (because html graphics is blocked).

I reported to paypal but they didn't exactly say it's a spoof. I think I got automated email from them. They gave me several options to check.

I kept a copy of email that I sent to spoof@paypal.com

This is the subject on my email: Receipt for Your Payment to electronewage@hotmail.com

This is how part of the full headers looks like when I checked where it's coming from:
    Return-Path: <paypal@email.paypal.com>

    From: "PayPal" <paypal@email.paypal.com>

NOTE: If anyone wants this image taken off later on just let me know. I'll edit the message. I don't want anybody using this to scam people. Just want to show to let you guys know how smart this scammers are. This is not the usual email "Dear Paypal User". This was addressed to my full name.
This is how the scam looks like with my full name in text format and the usual paypal html graphics above my full name.
