Grades Popped!!!!!!!!!!!

My grades just popped. I have been waiting for awhile. All cards are for sale if interested. In the first batch, I was pleasantly surprised. I knew nothing about the McDonald's, but I thought they might come out a little worse. I thought the Foldouts would do better, but I have heard that they are tough. I was also pleased with the Topps Comics.

Second batch. I was hoping for more 10's here. I was actually hoping for a total of 40 10's and only received 24 of them. I poured through a couple thousand McGwire cards, and submitted the best. Most of the cards that I thought would be 9's were in there because they were higher dollar cards. Again, they are all for sale, and will eventually make it to ebay or naxcom.

wow. nice job on the '83 Foldout 8. Any tips on how you got such a nice grade? I submitted a foldout card a while ago and got a "6." The only "damage" to the card was due to the factory applied folds. Apparently, the PSA grader i got didn't make the connection btwn the name "foldout" and the corresponding folds on the edges of the cards.

I went to architecture school and had lots of experience with an xacto knife, metal straight edge, and soft green cutting board. I probably only submitted about 1/3 of the cards that I cut.

Nice grades but how did you sneak the 91 Holsum disc in with the regular cards? I am positive that Keith's 91 Holsum of Nolan Ryan is in a tall boy holder?Also I would love to see a picture of the 79 comic of Ryan? If my memory serves me right they were never distributed or folded around a piece of gum? I thought they were all cut down from sheets?

I didn't think PSA graded '79 Topps Comics. I submitted a couple Ryans and they were rejected with the dreaded "no holder available" excuse. Also, stellar on the Foldouts! I've got to send in my Ryan and see what happens.

Most that you see were cut from sheets (rolls actually), but they were issued with gum as well. Here's a scan (pack is about 1 1/2" wide):

If it was folded around a piece of gum(like intended) would it be able to grade out a "9"? I can't see that happening?

Here is my foldout Ryan. I worked the heck out of it and got a decent grade but they are tough to cut because they are thin. They were folded so there are tiny bends especially at the corners!

I actuall didn't sneak the 91 Holsum disc in with the regular cards. I actually submitted it with the first order which was all tallboys. I called PSA yesterday, and they said that they had moved the disc to the regular card holder. I, too, was surprised at this.

The 79 comics that I have are uncut panels which include the player card and the gum wrapper. See below for a sample of what the Ryan looks like.

That is the same exact wrapper that I've had rejected on 2 occasions. I suspect they have changed their policy regarding these.

I called PSA and spoke to L'Var and he checked with their spec. department and got the ok to grade it. You may want to send them in again especially with this month's $5 special including tallboys.
