I have heard nothing positive. You would think a card like that, if legit, would be in a PSA or SGC holder.
  • There is no website, but I thought I heard mixed results a while ago, but I could be mistaken.

So, the card slides around like that in the holder? That can't be a good thing, for starters...

  • Isn't the old SCD holder (the Red one) supposed to be okay, and the new one (Blue) is suspect?

I don't know if this place does consingments (from the name?), but I always wonder about a seller that has slabs from multiple companies (PSA, SGC, GAI, SCD). Out of those 4, why is the SCD one in there? Loyalty or thinking one company is better is fine, but when a card will sell for much more in one slab I wonder why its not in there in the first place when you're going to sell it anyway.

I don't really know what to look for, but the top border doesn't look even to me...but its still a really nice card.

Well I bought a 92 Favre Stadium club in SCD(new) 10. When I cracked it, it had a dimple on the card. I sent it into PSA anyway. It came back graded a 9. The dimple must have slipped there eyes as well. I know a while ago they caught the one on my 86 Fleer Jordan, it came back an 8.

Ryan, no mixed results here - the new SCD may have a few authentic cards in their barrell, but I've heard and seen nothing positive. If you're chasing that card, I'd get the seller to give you as much info as possible (even to measuring the card in the holder) and keep your bid way down. Note that there are no returns on this guys auction.

  • MorrellMan is right. I've seen ton's of posts on diffrent boards saying most of SCD Vintage cards are trimmed or fakes. So bid very LOW!!!!!

  • Thanks everyone for your input. I think I will stay away from this one after getting a general consensus in this thread. Its at 300 bones right now and I dont see it cooling down.

Is SCD, claiming it "knows" how to tell the fakes from the legitimates, still grading 1980s Star basketball? My thought on this is if there is someone who has the golden eye to tell the difference, wouldn't a more credible grading company have tried to lure him? Granted, we can't know what goes on behind the scenes (or even what has been attempted) but I'd imagine a PSA or SGC Star market would be hot enough to make the investment worthwhile.
