Opening Wax box question

I read where a lot of forum members crack open a wax box now and then and share their findings. I would love to do that too. I have some unopened from all sports including 78, 81 and 86 football, 89 score fb, 1983-84 opc, 1990 leaf 1 & 2 sealed, 1984 donruss, 4 1989 low UD boxes, 88 fleer Baskets amongst some other things.
My question is what do you with the commons. Opening 540 cards, hoping to getting a handful of nice ones and the rest O/C or just a plain common who may register an 8 seems to be a waste.
Any ideas on where these commons go would be helpful.

Thanks

  • If I am not working on the set, then I donate them to local charities that benefit children. I get a tax deduction and the children are happy.

    I like the 84 Donruss!

Putting together a set is a lot of fun but not possible from one box - unless its basketball - sets of 132 e.g.

And as it goes for the commons? Hey, there's plenty of guys doing sets that would be happy to take a donation! image

Good luck on your rippin' and don't be a stranger....enquiring minds....

packman are you a st. louisian? i see that you have #6 as your icon.

a friend of mine tried to donate to a local hospital and they told them they had plenty of cards to go around. apparently they were 1991 pro set hockeyl cards and the hospital staff said that the children had already suffered enough.

if you offered up the commons, i'm sure someone would take them off of your hands if the price was right. image

    i wouldn't mind some pack fresh 78, 81 and 86 fb commons.

    Thanks,
