BRITANNIA 1988 PROOF SET

Could someone tell me of the mintage for this set? I paid $1,125 for it (with shipping), so about $100 over melt (then). Was that the normal price? I wasn't trying to get a deal (I like this design), but I'm still interested... image

    Very interesting info on that website. It looks as though the price drop from issue to selling means there were not a good investment initially. Very nice sets though but I don't know if demand is that high

    chards seems to have reasonable prices in some cases... anyone have experience ordering from them ?
    Im not sure about the overseas hassles.
    I still have an invoice from the japan mint im afraid to fax back, something about faxing a written credit card number to the East

    Hah! I ordered from Chard's while living in Japan. They held my check for a bit longer than I expected, almost a month, but considering my Japanese country code/phone number and my APO/US address they were being careful. (This was awhile ago, and it was for a 1997 Britannia set). As I recall they suck at email so calling was the best option. I ordered a second time and had better mailing speed. Anyway, they were slow, the shipping prices were relatively high, but the quality was fine and really I would order from them again as long as I wasn't in a hurry.

    I've ordered from them once, you must send your order via regular mail or call them on the phone. Shippin charges are very high and it took a long time until the package showed up.

    My impression was that except for their website they don't have any other computers.
