My Dad & the Saints cheerleaders...

As some of you may know, I began collecting and selling classic sports images from the "Old School" about six months ago. My collection has grown immensely in a short period of time to include some 1200 different sports images that I consider unique, interesting, etc. I was going through my own family slides from sporting events and have found some real gems. Some may remember the Dave Kingman photo from a few months back...anyhoo...
While going through some football slides I noticed something interesting. My Dad & I attended a Saints/Bears game in October 1977. There were some great images in the boxes: Walter Payton 3 images, The defensive line 3 images, The scoreboard 5 images, the Bears backfield 6 images, Archie Manning 2 images, the Saints pre-game 4 images, misc. images (coin-flip, action, kick-off, referees, etc.) 27 images and lastly...Saints cheerleaders 44 images. I learned something about my Dad this week...not sure what that is exactly, but let's say that I am now the proud owner of the best 1977 Saints cheerleader images known to mankind. I pulled two random shots to share with you guys. Some are better than these and some are worse, but here's a couple for your enjoyment. I will pick the best 2 or 3 and make them available for sale--should anyone want one at any point in history???--man, I sure wish he could have held his focus on "sweetness" a little bit more...

  • ...upon further review from the booth, his focal point seems to be the blonde with the flower in her hair right in the middle. She's in every slide and typically centered pretty well.

Also, I wanted to share one image that I really liked from the box. Not as exciting as the cheerleaders, but a cool shot...

    thanks for sharing...

i grew up a new orleans saints fan, my dad loved the saints and hated stan musial (don't ask why), but this is reallly cool.

i saw the saints in 1981 in new orleans, i just remember people booing and drinking heavily.

truth be known, much more interesting to watch cheerleaders during 1st 20 years of saints franchise than watch the game.

Great photos. Cheerleading has come a long way since '77. Those look like high school cheerleaders, not the dance teams you see today. Growing up a Giants football fan, there never were cheerleaders at those games. It was all about the football.

    Rock,
Carolina has nice cheerleaders, huh? I gotta start watching more NFL on the telly.

just noticed the image is flipped on your first picture. I guess I'm spending too much time looking at these. image
