McNabb plays race card in interview...

Donovan was on an ESPN interview and they were asking him about Owens saying they would be better with Favre, actually Irvin said it and Owens agreed. McNabb said it was like him saying that they would be better with Steve Largent or Joe Jurevicous at WR. Donovan was not mad because he said they would be undefeated with Favre because Owens is saying Favre is a better QB, but he was ofended because Favre is white. He said he would not be as offended if Owens said they would be better with Brooks, Culpepper, Vick, etc.

Maybe it is just me but I thought that was an odd way of looking at the situation.

If McNabb wants to go there that is fine....who was the last black QB to win a super bowl? Doug Williams?

I think Favre and Owens should play together in Miami next year and see what happens....

I didn't read the McNabb interview and quite frankly, don't care about what was said and what was not said.

If you guys want to talk about McNabb and the "race card" and the last black quarterback to win the Super Bowl, take it to the sports talk folder. This has nothing to do with sports cards and memorabilia.

If this thread is allowed to continue, we're going to see a WHOLE LOT of ignorant BS being spewed, as evidenced by Joestalin's post. image

Da big hurt....Wake up We are in the "sports talk forum"

I gotta admit Im getting really sick and tired of McNabb and this race card thing. I happen to be white. I am not racist. I work in a prison and am well aware that scumbags come in all shapes and sizes and color, there are good and bad people and thats it. I just dont see the reason McNabb has to go with the "Black on Black" thing, I meen Favre being mentioned does not have anything to due with his color or Culpepper and other top shelf black QB's not being mentioned in his place. Gimme a break. I used to respect McNabb how he handled the TO thing but this is just lingering way too much, the media and everyone needs to just except that the two guys dont click and never will, I think the two guys should just both shut up or meet in a ring and fight it out. Personally I think McNabb would destroy TO but enough is enough.

Granted, McNabb didn't handle this well. But how many people would between the Rush Limbaugh thing (which even though that was two seasons ago, it most certainly had a lingering affect on McNabb), and the Owens thing, as well as his injuries, etc? Frankly, if all this motivates him to have a monster upcoming season, that's all that matters to me. I think NFL players usually do play better with a chip on their shoulder.

McNabb waits this long to speak to the TO thing? huh? Why even say anything now? It seems to an outsider like he's been trying to come up with a good comeback for this long.

He looks foolish for waiting until now to say it, and it seems like he is trying to take the focus away from the super bowl (just like Favre kinda sorta announcing his plans to retire).

My impression is that McNabb found it insulting that Owens said that a white quarterback was better
than he was. Owens knew saying such a thing would upset McNabb and he baited him with that
remark just to rile him up.

If this is the case then McNabb does not come off looking very good at all. Does this provide an
    insight into McNabb's character?

McNabb's timing couldn't have been worse. The latest he sould have was at the end of the regular season, not a couple of days before the Super Bowl. By doing this now, he's bringing attention to himself and became the pot calling the kettle black (no pun intended).

    Having said that. hypothetically speaking...

What if TO set this all up and told Irvin to bring up the Farve vs McNabb argument? We all know TO and Irvin are best friends. Remember when Steve Young called out Michael and asked who was in the wrong? Irvin pulled a Rosenhaus and wouldn't give a straight answer.

I don't understand the pouncing on McNabb. He is a class act, supports his city, and is a good leader for his team. He bit his tongue and acted professionally when TO was being a fool. He did that for the benefit of his team. Now that TO is off to his "greater good", it is OK for Donavan to make a statement. Give him a break. I want him on my team any day of the week. Regards.
