How do these look?

Image that is. Shinny surfaces are difficult for me to image, especially on proof coins.

Ajaan, these look good, certainly better than scans-don't tell me they're scans...

If I was buying I wouldn't say they're the best pics I'd ever seen but certainly attractive and more than adequate to buy from.

    Congratulations!image

Finally getting camera familiar, are we?

They are from the camera. The sets are a real pain to image.

Did those gold coins come cameo at all on the first strikes, or were they mostly brilliant proofs?image

All the ones I own are brilliant proofs. I don't think they are cameo.

  • When I sold some of the SA gold proofs, the only way that I could get a decent picture was to use the lampshade method (put a lampshade over the coin with the light on the outside and take a pic thru the top hole). Any other way that I tried, I always got the reflection that you are showing.

Mac - of the gold proofs SA proofs that I have seen or owned, all were brilliant proofs (not a single chance at cameo on any of them)

Not only the coins look great, but I also think that your photos have vastly improved, especially the group photos.I assume that the first two were reduced for size reasons,so they are a bit blurry, but you captured the luster and the the nice red colour of the copper coins. image

Then get your shins out of the picture. image

Seriously, though, you've come a long way, baby.

  • Don - That is a very beautiful set!!! I,too, have trouble taking pictures of complete sets - the reflectivity is different on each coin it seems. I think you did a good job!
