OT, Sorta? Need help identifying Oriental Hallmark

It's about 6 inches X 4 1/2 and around a 1/4 inch thick and weigh's just barely over 2 pounds..... I can't seem to find out much, I listed the file as a paperweight, But it is more of a dish or bowl.

Do you know that this piece is Asian? There are books of hallmarks. Have you looked in any of those? Is there an on-line source for hallmarks?

Seems unlikely to me that an 1848 Asian piece would have English written on it. I'm guessing maybe US or England. Lotus is probably the pattern.

I agree with ajaan that an 1848 Asian piece would have English written on it. Lotus is a good guess as far as the pattern seeing that the bowl has a lotus blossom shape.
  • Thank's for the input. I have tried to google and yahoo it to no end????? I am not sure of the metal it was cast of? I did find that 1848 was the year of the dog, And if you look at the hallmark the symbol look's kind of like a dog? Being Aisan of origin? I'm a little lost, Chinese? Japanese?

    I don't think it's Asian.
