Will PCGS make date type sets...

I am wanting to make an 1835 Date type set... will PCGS make a registry for something like this?

    Hi Trinketts,

Not sure where braddick gets his information, but he is mistaken. Email me directly with your request and I'll see what I can do! Thanks.

I received my information from reading both sites.

NGC Signature Sets Allows Collectors an opportunity to custom build Registries, such as an 1835 date set right now, today.

PCGS Registry Sets No where do I see the chance to build an 1835 date set, right now, today. I'd love to be wrong though as I think it's a great idea!

    Braddick,

This is exactly why I don't spend very much time in the forums. There is a lot of misinformation and it generally turns out to be a time bandit. Time is something of which I have very little.

No, we do not have a "build it yourself" area in the PCGS Set Registry, although we do in the PSA Registry and soon will in PCGS. But the question was "I am wanting to make an 1835 Date type set... will PCGS make a registry for something like this?" More than likely, the answer is yes, which is why I have asked Trinkett to contact me directly.

Excellent! I'll check back frequently as I look forward to seeing Trinkett's (and others) date set(s) in the Registry (along with other, possible custom sets).

This is a good idea and we should do it.

I for one have to thank BJ for her continual efforts in improving sets, making them complete, and correcting set that have "Stray" coins in them. If any one hasn't noticed the Canadian Registry....Mint sets, PL set and even a 1858 Mint Set was added as these were sets I was (personally) interested in and you know what... They were added. So yes, sets that "make sense" and sets that PCGS has graded all the coins with in that set, are likely to be approved.
Thank you BJ for all your hard work.

Just for the record, I have the 2005, 2004, 1958 MS, 1958 PL and the 1858 (1st one) mint set. These were all requested of PCGS and BJ worked hard to see they were included this year. As I hear it from BJ, there are more new sets coming out of the chute in the Canadian Registry this year. I think it will motivate and make the registry allot more fun and influence our desires to keep collecting what we enjoy. Thanks again BJ.

While some small improvements have been made to the Canadian Registry sets ... I still wish they would fix one error in the PL $ that they won't admit is totally bogus and makes the set impossible to complete. As far as I can tell ... there is no such thing as a 2001-P Loon ... whether it be MS, PL, or SP ... yet ... it is listed as being a requirement for the set according to their Canadian "specialist".

As for any of the new Canadian and UK sets they will supposedly be adding throughout the year ... probably best to take a wait and see attitude to see whether or not they can actually get then right on the first attempt.

Is Trinketts able to make an 1835 Date type set yet?

My guess is that eventually (next year or two), there will be an 1835 mint set, but I doubt there will ever be an 1835 date type set.

    Hi Everyone,

We have been loading denomination type sets since the beginning of the year. The last one (nickels) went up on March 3rd. You can check the Set Registry News page for the progress.

As far as the 1835 "type set," Trinkett never emailed me as I requested so it is still unclear to me what he is looking for. Trinkett, if you see this post, please send me an email directly to bsearls@collectors.com and explain to me what you are looking for.

    Thanks.

Wow, it appears that an 1835 year set and mint set would be the same (since they only struck coins in Philly that year):

    Half Cent
    Cent
    Half Dime
    Dime
    Quarter
    Half Dollar
