4 weeks until 06' Heritage

and I am still not sure if I will do this set with the gusto of last year. Looks like If I do it will be retail only. Anyone else still on the fence?

Why would you be going the retail only route? I am on the fence as well with this........I'm thinking of picking up 2 hobby cases this week for under 1100 shipped but haven't decided for sure yet.

I've got two boxes on reserve at the local shop for $65 a piece. After these are open, then I'll figure out if I want to go Hobby or Retail route.

Someone posted a link to the checklist in pdf format. I now have it as an excel spreadsheet. It does not have a checklist for the chromes and the SPs are not designated in any way, but it does have all of the autos. It is not fancy - by no means in the class or style of Basilone. If you PM your email address I can send it to you. It may hold us over for a while.

I already broke through the fence with a running start. I have already paid for my case. I'll be waiting for the retail to hit the shelves too.
I do expect to find BOTH the Mantle and Williams cuts in my case, of course image

Its a bit eeire. Last year at this time there were already about 4 new year products. There hasn't been a new baseball product in weeks! If Im
busting heritage on my birthday on the 27th Ill be happy, but I could see this stuff being delayed.

Keep in mind that hobby is usually cheaper than retail at the beginning, unless this stuff gets popular, and then it is smart to switch
to retail. Anyone see John Basilone???

After not having any product released yet this year, it would be quite sad and wouldnt look good for Topps to have this product be late...especially with it's anticipation. I'll be steamin' if its not released on time! I'll be going through withdrawal! image

Is the SP breakdown going to be better on Hobby, the typical 1:2 packs, anyone have any info?
  • Options
According to the breakdown on the sell sheets that I've seen ...

    . . . it is 1 SP in every 2 packs
    3 chrome in every box
1 subset card (Then and Now, New Age and Flashback) in every 5 packs
    and 1 Auto/Relic in every 36 packs.

I've ordered 3 cases, so I should get

24 boxes or 526 packs or 4,608 cards

with those odds, (and math majors please butt in if I have it incorrect)

    I should get

263 Short Prints (1 in every two packs)
72 chrome cards (3 in every box)
105 sub set cards and (1 in every 5 packs)
    14 auto/relic cards (1 in every 36 packs)
That adds up to 454 "premium cards"

However, we know there is always 1 premium card in every pack (at least there was last year. Wasn't it the end or second to the end card in the pack?) I should get 526 premium cards. So, the odds, I believe, have to be been that stated.

My source has informed me that the 2006 Heritage BB will go live on March 1st. I'm very excited and anticipate 06 being the best year for Heritage since 2001. I have 2 cases coming my way and I'm wondering if I should tack on another.
Whoever said we wash away with the rain ?

I have a REAL BAD ITCH to take the bait and plunge into a case plus a bunch of retail. For me, there is no such thing as dabbling ..... It is either nothing or a minimum complete master set including any variations that may appear. The clock is ticking on the case ..... no case means no heritage. No heritage means staying away from these forums until the smoke clears. Jealousy will be to hard to overcome otherwise ......

I've been collecting Heritage since 2001.

This will make my third year here trading and talking about the set.

It would be a shame to stop this year.

I'm gonna work small - two boxes of hobby from a shop - for my birthday - the 18th! image

He's probably overcharge - but if they are 70 to 75 per - ya gotta figure the saving on shipping of 2 boxes.

The rest will be with the "Hunt for Heritage" in my neighborhood!

I went to survey the pillow section at my local Kmart...everything looks ready to go. Im ready to play "hide the heritage"!!!!

Remember all, early boxes of heritage have had the HIGHEST percentage of autos. If you are going to buy retail, find some early
24 count retail boxes....they come in 2 stacks of 12. Ive opened quite a bit of football, and most of the boxes had autos in them!
Timing is everything! Mike and I are due this year as far as ink!

PS, Im preselling a 2000 count lot of sugar-free gum..serious offers only

I was just looking at the checklist over at Topps.

There are a few nice new names in the relics list, but also a lot of the same retreads.
Adam Dunn, Al Kaline, Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez, Alex Rodriguez, Alfonso Soriano, Andruw Jones, Barry Bonds, Bill Mazeroski, Brian Roberts, Brian Roberts, Brooks Robinson, Carl Crawford, Clint Barmes, Conor Jackson, Curt Schilling, David Ortiz, David Wright, Derrek Lee, Dontrelle Willis, Eric Chavez, Eric Gagne, Frank Robinson, Gary Sheffield, Jake Peavy, Jeff Francis, Johan Santana, Johnny Damon, Johnny Damon, Khalil Greene, Manny Ramirez, Mark Mulder, Mark Teixeira, Matt Holliday, Mickey Mantle, Miguel Cabrera, Miguel Tejada, Mike Piazza, Morgan Ensberg, Pedro Martinez, Rickie Weeks, Robinson Cano, Shin-Soo Choo, Stan Musial, Tadahito Iguchi

    Here's the autograph lineup:
Bob Chakales, Bob Wiesler, Brooks Robinson, Charles Thompson, Dick Cole, Don Kaiser, Duke Snider, Dusty Rhodes, Eddie O'Brien, Ernie Banks, Ernie Oravetz, Frank Robinson, Jack Collum, Jack Crimian, Jack Dittmer, Jerry Coleman, Jerry Schoonmaker, Jerry Snyder, Jim Pyburn, Jim Small, Joe Margoneri, John (red) Murff, Karl Olson, Ken Kuhn, Lou Kretlow, Mel Parnell, Nellie King, Paul Lapalme, Red Schoendienst, Rene Valdes, Ron Negray, Stan Musial, Tommy Byrne, Whitey Ford, Windy Mccall, Yogi Berra - oh, and the 1/1 Mantle and Williams autos as well.

    Seat relic lineup
Al Kaline, Bill Mazeroski, Bobby Richardson, Brooks Robinson, Ernie Banks, Frank Robinson, Mickey Mantle, Stan Musial, Whitey Ford, Yogi Berra

Wonder if card #176 (Yusmeiro Petit) will have a spelling variation?

Looks like the Mantle relics (one seat and one uni or bat) are going to be the hot number this year. They are sure to be very short printed.

    BTW guys,

Talked with my wife last nite to solidiy my plan.

I'm definitely getting 2 hobby boxes for my birthday.

The rest will come from retail - we'll set a budget - if the product is hot, it'll be hard to find anyway.

Now, for those who I have helped out over the past few years - I'm gonna need some this year! image

I would hate to miss out working with you guys - it's the highlite of my collecting year!!

If anyone needs anything from the 2-3 years - I still have - especially for future trades.

    Plan 1 (retail store)

    1) Stake out store everyday. Visit at 10 am and again around 6 pm.
    2) Take old inventory and condense it, to make shelf space
    3) Find heritage and secure it it one large shopping buggy.
    4) Move around the store hiding boxes in between shelves and at the bottom of pillow stashes
    5) Sell car, take out second mortgage, or rob a bank
    6) Slowly buy a few boxes to overt suspicion from store manager
    7) Pray to the heritage gods that there is good coallation on the new age inserts
    8) Place cards in pages and big 4 inch binder
    9) Share with kids down the road

I am looking to buy an unopened case of this years Heritage. I asked my local guy yesterday and he told me I was to late to get it through him. Is anyone here selling any or know a reputable dealer to go through. I really don't want to go the ebay route but if I have to, I will.

    Any ideas.

P.S. I PM'd Anna and he told me to ask here. image
