anyone ever deal with freedman collectibles?

I won 2 auctions from them last week (a 1960 fleer jack kemp and an OJ rookie, both psa 8) and sent out a postal money order on 1/21. I haven't heard from them, so I sent them a short email inquiring as to receipt of my payment. I got back one sentence saying it has not been received. I've never had something take this long in the mail (especially Buffalo to Mass.) and am getting a little nervous. They have a "payment must be made in 10 days" policy that has led to most of their negs. - just hoping the guy isn't trying to back out of the deal and say I didn't pay.

Someone tell me they've never had a problem with these guys....

  • Don't all jump up at once to reassure me. Today is their "10 calendar days" date, and they say I haven't paid. Great. This should be lots of fun....
  • calm down...never dealt with them, feedback is ok, looks like they're a little slow in delivery...

  • The slow delivery I don't mind at all, I'm just concerned over them supposedly not getting my payment - the money order 100% went out Saturday the 21st - them saying they havent received it, combined with some negs over similar issues is what is making me a little nervous and hoping for comfort....
  • Couldn't you call the number on the back of the MO and see if it had been cashed? Also, I believe you can put a stop payment on a MO as well...

Personally I HATE not being able to use Paypal...both as a buyer and seller...with all of its faults, it's still the best thing available...

I also hate the USPS tracking numbers as I usually receive my item before anything even updates online..what a waste...

I usually spoil my customers (I don't sell too much and when I do it's usually 100+), but I give free UPS (I know the person in shipping/rcvg in our company and she gives me our company rate for shipping stuff out which is cheaper than going to the PO and I can give my buyer a real tracking number....always gets more positive feedback about my shipping, ie it costs me ~$4 to 2nd day air a card)...

    Just my rant...

I would check to see if it's been cashed.

  • I'd like to, but I believe the only way to check on the status of a postal money order is to go there, fill out a form, and pay a fee. I guess if he doesn't tell me it's there by tomorrow that will be my course of action, as a ;etter taking that long (9 days) to go that distance first class would be a first for me...

As I said, the seller 10 day mandate expired today... Hopefully, tomorrow comes, he tells me my payment is there (pstmarked 1/21) and all is ok, and I'm just getting nervous over nothing. I NEVER buy higher priced cards through sellers that don't accept paypal, and this is why... Went for the ease of 2 cards that I really wanted at a decent price (but no paypal) and now I have to sweat it out...
  • He offers several telephone numbers on his auction description, call him.
  • any payment I mail that is over $100 i send certified mail (requires signature upon delivery) - eliminates any game playing by the seller about if and when payment was received. result of two bad experiences I had - seller claimed they never received my money order payment.
