Interesting edge error on this bust half

JRoccoJRocco Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭✭
Looks like the Castaing machine had a little hiccup when it applied the edge lettering to this bustie, Through the dirt (thinking about you stman--in a good way of courseimage ), it looks like FIFFYFFYT CENTS and A LADROLLAR.
You gotta love these hand made coins.

Hey I like this. Not sure if it's a true error, but neat nonetheless. So, I'm guessing this is not a "PCGS Coin." Shame on you.

Haha, hey I'm OK when folks think of me and dirt in the same sentence. Good or bad way, I'm really OK with it.image

It looks like this coin went through the castaing machine twice. The one set of letters is much bolder than the other. This didn't happen often, so I would not encapsulate this coin.

Great find! Double edge lettering is scarce, and worth a small premium. The Russ Logan collection had a large number of them, his 11/02 auction catalog is a great source of more info on bust half errors Russ Logan Auction B&M Here is my Logan double edge error:

Nice looking 1827. The 120A has been downgraded to R3, just like the O-120 prime. Sorry.

    Very Nice!

Few look at the 3rd side of the coin.

Keep this out of a holder. Liberty needs to breathe!

There is absolutely no reason for this to ever see a slab. I know what it is and I bet I can grade it too---maybe even a little closer to its real grade than some TPG's. image
