anyone remember the 1997 goudey football sets?

I have 2 boxes of this at the post office waiting for me to pick it up and open it. I love these little cards. I'm looking for the reggie white cards in them. Tell me what you think of this set.

Well, went to pick up the 2 boxes bought on ebay and busted both today. I pulled 5 reggie white cards that have good chance at a PSA 10. As for the rest, I'm not sure what I want to do with them. I love these little cards so maybe I'll do the entire sets. I had one hobby box and a retail box. Looks to be different sets so I have plenty of cards. Anyway, fun breaking 2 boxes.

    Checked them out on eBay.
Seems they're as wide as normal cards but a bit shorter.

    Cool looking set!

I'm not familiar with the set - are there shortprints? Is it from Fleer?

I bought some 34G style BB from Fleer - the short prints kicked my ass!

In fact, the retail I bought had almost no SP's!

  • I think there are two different series of Goudey cards, the second one has the "Gale Sayers Says" on the card. Just finding the stuff might be tricky because it's not all that valuable a set. But it is pretty cool, and the second series has some nice inserts/parallels.

I bought one box of each off of ebay and all the cards looked to be very high quality. I'll have to see if I want to spend the money to grade the entire set.

    Josh,
Those sets are cool. I bought a few for some of my player collections and liked them. If you happen to get any duplicates in the Fleer Goudey II (Gale Sayers says) of Natrone Means and/or Jeff Blake--please let me know.

I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.
