Will Dansco Albums tone coins?

I have a binder and misc. pages that I am considering filling for my son. Are these inert, or will they affect the coin?

Some coins tone in a Dansco others don't.

Don't put PROOFs in a dansco, they get funky looking, at least in my experience they always have.

As Ms. Bopper stated, SAEs do some really neat things. I have also found that wrapping SAEs in toilet paper (unused) and storing them in a cardboard box for a year gets you some really awsome purple colors.

I've had coins in Dansco albums for 7+ years and no toning. I keep them in a safe with silica gel canisters, and I recharge them every few months, more often in the summer.

Perhaps the toning is from a combination of the album and environment, or just environment alone. I believe Dansco claims to use sulfur-free paper in their albums.

Proofs get hazy, most silver tones nicely, cu-ni tones a bit, copper doesn't appear to tone at all. Just from my experiance with about 6 Dansco albums.

Bummer, I was hoping my Franklin Dansco would put some nice colors on them.
  • I've been doing a SHQ set with both proofs since 1999 and keep them in a Dansco. They haven't developed any toning whatsoever. I also have a Kennedy set in a Dansco and don't see any evidence of toning at all.

They can do a really nice job on Ikes as well. I guess it might also depends on what kind
of environment the Dansco album is in.

  • MS Clad coins tend to tone nicely in Danscos.

I also have a Dansco album full of Ikes that are toning very nicely too. I do not keep it in a controlled environment.

My set of SAE's are blast white after 5 years, my BU SQ's are getting a nice gold hue on them, they look nice. Both are in Dansco Albums.

  • The coins in my Dansco albums aren't toning, but in my old Whitman albums from the 50's they're toning
    beautifully. image

7 months in a Dansco album with the corrosion protecting sleeve and my SO's silver eagles haven't toned a bit. I'm quite happy.

  • So.... let's say you put a set of SAE's in a Dansco Album and want them to giddy-up on the toning possibilities. What's the best environment? Under the sink? In a hot garage in the south? In the dog house?(Just threw that one in) image
  • This coin came out of a Dansco
