Two Cheers for Frank Thomas! Yipeee!

I don't know how many of you are fans of the Big Hurt, but I am one of them. And if you are too than I think you'll appreciate the news of his deal with the A's. For all of us who are fans it's great to see that his career won't be coming to an end just yet! I'd be interested to see how the fans of the A's feel about there addition to the team. Hopefully this will spark an interest in his cards once more, and maybe he'll be back on price guides.

Way to go Frank!

I'm not the biggest A's fan (I am of the team across the Bay though!), but I like to see them do well, and I think picking up thomas was an AWESOME idea. They're shelling out $500k for him, with incentives. Beane and Co. are all about making great deals, and though Thomas has been nagged with injuries, but he's still a dangerous hitter, and if he has another healthy season, he'll probably have another 40hr/100rbi season. For the price, the A's got a steal.

  • I am a BIG Frank fan and love the news. I am a fan of Moneyball too and what Beane has done with the franchise. I, for one, will be watching the A's whenever I can.

  • I'm still wondering for $500,000 why my Blue Jays didn't take a run at him.

    I hope he does well!

I thought Frank was going to be one of those rare players that stuck to one team like Mattingly, Sandberg, and Ripken.

I am happy for him that he has a chance to be playing again, but the White Sox did not really do a good PR move about not signing him. They made him out to be an injured player when the injury already healed. Sure they were concerned about his health, but they could have taken a chance on him because he has meant so much to the franchise. He is Mr White Sox after all. The White Sox may have made a move with business only in mind, and not baseball history or the fans in mind. Have a good team history also maintains the fan base. Frank could just as well be a HOF if he never played another game. He has nothing left to prove, but I support him wanting to continue playing.

I have a major league stack of 90B's that I got for like 50 cents a piece that I wouldn't mind unloading!

I guess I never paid that much attention....has he been living on the DL?

  • Frank deserves another GREAT SEASON. He is one of the phenomenal hittiers of this or any time. I don't care what you think of him personlity-wise, he can hit, and hit in the clutch. I don't like the DH but the Hurt makes it tolerable.
  • Frank has always been one of my favorites....too bad the WS have decided to let him go...always liked hearing Hawk and Wimpy saying..."YEEEEEEEEEESSSS"

Take a look at his stats for the past 9 years. He'll spike, then slump (or be hurt) for 2 years, then spike again. If 2000 and 2003 are any indication, then he's due for another spike year. image

It's just gonna be really, really weird to see Frank Thomas wearing Oakland green though!
