I am noticing some good buying bargains on items ending today......too close to the superbowl to have auctions ending. Also, the PNW lost power for awhile today....some are still out....so, there goes some potential buyers.
<< <i> Morgans Oh well hard lesson Learned.... i will never list coins without a reserve again Ouch!! >>
I'm not sure if that is the proper lesson. A good percentage of your coins that had starting prices near their value did not get bid on. High reserves would mean no sale and a good chunk in fees. Though preferable to selling a nice coin for a cheap price in a no reserve auction, a coin that doesn't meet the reserve is still a loss.
Several of the coins are VAMs and they are only collected by a small percentage of collectors. Many VAM collectors prefer to find them unattributed rather than buy them. This makes it difficult to get retail value for them.
If that $3800 figure is from the PCGS price guide or similar, $2400 doesn't sound that far off for coins to move.
Good luck on the next go round with the coins that did not sell.
Welcome to the world of wholesale. You didn't do as poorly as you think. Most of the coins sold for fair prices.
There are no set price guides for VAM varieties. Most VAM's are not worth a premium over a comparable coin of the same grade.
Most Morgan Dollars are not worth full greysheet bid. The key dates are worth at least greysheet, but the common to slightly better than generics dates are typically worth somewhere between Bluesheet bid and Greysheet bid.
