26 down, 2 to go!

but they're gonna be tough. My minimalist design type set is near completion, but I have a feeling the last two will involve an amazing amount of patience: a modified head(1836-39) large cent(AUish, original brown) and a trade dollar xf/au(original, unwiped). The whole thing handsomely resides on a wall outside my study. The slabs are mounted via velcro to a picture frame in the following way:

1 2 5 6 7 11 12

3 4 8 9 10 13 14

15 16 17 18 19 25 26

20 21 22 23 24 27 28

1.classic head half cent 2.modified head lg. cent(TBA) 3.capped bust half dollar 4.seated half dollar 5.flying eagle cent 6.indian head cent 7.two-cent piece 8.three-cent silver 9.three-cent nickel 10.shield nickel 11.Trade Dollar(TBA) 12.Morgan Dollar 13.Liberty Nickel 14.Barber Quarter 15.Peace Dollar 16.Buffalo nickel 17.Mercury Dime 18.Standing Liberty Quarter 19.Walker 20.Lincoln Cent 21.Jefferson Nickel 22.Roosy 23.Washington Quarter 24.Franklin 25.Eisenhower Dollar 26.Kennedy Half 27.Anthony Dollar 28.Sacagawea Dollar

Sort of like a box of chocolates with their descriptions! The thematic relationship atleast makes sense to me in my own way: Reich-Gobrecht upper left, Longacre top middle, Morgan-Barber upper right, nickel, dime, quarter, half vertical pairs and moderns lower right. Several cool things as well: the red-brown Longacres(both 1865!) are right next to each other, the 3c nickel and lib nickel have identical color!, the two shields are one on top of the other.

A journey putting this altogether, but it's the planning of the thing that made all the fun. See registry link below. My latest addition goes well with the capped bust half! (Compare pics!) but it was working with many people along the way that made this experience all the more special. Many are experts in particular coins! Now all I need are those trade/large cent pieces!

Wow, I really like that seated half.

Any pictures of the finished product?

1907Quarter

yeah, but the camera has it as underexposed!

Wow, that's a pretty blue.

Nice coins too! I like it & thanks for sharing...Mike

Interesting idea, I like to have stuff like that but velcro seems like the adhesives get soft after time and the end up breaking free.

Did you find an adhesive that won't weaken after time?

1907Quarter

hey, I'll just replace the velcro after a while-cheap enough!

I like the idea, though I have been buying "problem" coins so I'll feel better about hanging them on my wall (if they get stolen I won't be out too much money-- and they'll be easier to identify!).
