Anyone in for some undercover work?

Let us put an end to gai pack grading questions. Does anyone want to go undercover and and submit a resealed pack and see if gai catches it? I think for the most part gai has given us an avenue to get packs graded and has opened up to the auctions a large variety of unopened stuff that we can purchase. If anyone wants to take the challenge, i would not report it here since Ryan reads the boards. It would be interesting to see what gets resealed and accepted..if any. If you accept the challenge, take pictures how it was done. I do not see how this is that bad considering it would be a way to help police this grading segment,....what do you all think? This may open up a new can of worms ...report back with your results in a few weeks....seems like a nice winter project.

Does he?? I was promised a catalog weeks ago to be sent UPS next day and I never got squat!
Plus I know other people he has jerked around as well.
I know he has had some health problems in the past but it would be nice to know what's going on.

What is the point of doing it if you can't report back?
Also, there is no way in hell you could send a pack to GAI and expect to get it back in a few weeks. I"ve had 2 there just for holdering (they are empty Turkey Red boxes from '10) that have been there for 2 months. It's been a few weeks since I called Danny and still no response, I"m sure any packs will take longer than a voice mail reply.

I think that GAI is a very honest company with some really nice people.

Are they capable of making errors? Sure.

Sending in one or two packs is not scientific IMO.

A study, to be valid, would have to involve a decent enough "sample" to make the data statistically significant - otherwise, I think one would be doing GAI a disservice.

    brianwintersfan,

Add me to the list... I asked for his assistance last month when he was posting all over these boards, going on and on about his 100% track record, Customer Service, ect... I provided all the info he asked for and have sent him two additional messages since then, but have yet to receive a singe reply (he promised a solution by the first week of this month)... thanks Ryan!

    In deference to Spazzy

This thread is about whether they offer consistence grading/authentication.

This is not about their customer service as such - which after reading stuff on this and other boards seems to be poor, at times.

I've already stated my opinion of Ryan and his antics in other threads. I believe the answers are already known. Are all GAI slabbed "unopened" packs resealed? Of course not. But in my view based on Ryan's comments and cases of GAI packs being busted, there are too many possible resealed packs in GAI slabs to not make them worth even close to the value for what they sell for. Considering the realized prices in the marketplace on these GAI packs, I think they are one of the most overpriced items out there in the baseball card industry.
  • I have stated this before. But i had 6 early 70's packs that were not legit and GAI refunded my $'s + vig with no hassle. I believe they are more honest and up front than most. Yes they have issue's as do the others. But who has not had a card rejected by one company and slabbed by another ? I know i have had this many times, and that is with all 3 of them. To do anykind of analysis would take many pack's/cards over many submissions to get anything even remotely accurate.
Kind of like what Mike said....image

I've had plenty of cards rejected by one company and then graded fine the next time thru with that same company. Some that were rejected had been broken out of the same company's holder to begin with.

I had meant that I wanted members not to say that they were going to send a pack, Keep quiet until the results were in. Sometimes at card shows,I thought that a collector could get an immediate result..maybe I was wrong. Maybe it would take more than two weeks.
