I wouldn't consider those lower grade with these particular varieties, JMO.

If you are not looking to spend allot, you can buy those coins raw for $2 or $3 and have PCGS grade them for $14, each. On eBay right now, MS64s are selling in the $60 range for each of those. I have one of each on there now that end tonight. They each grade MS64, but were graded before PCGS started attributing the variety on the holder. So, they are a little cheap right now, but I guarantee the varieties 200%. Take a look at the link below.

  • Have you tried "cherrypicking" at any local shows. I found 3 T1's and 2 T3's at our city's monthly show last week. All AU this time, but I've seen better examples just waiting to be found. And it's fun never the less to search through a bag of Ike's and see what can be found. image Around here, Ike's are still considered the "ugly stepsister" in collecting so it's easy to look throught hem because no body else seems to want too.

BTW if you have never seen Supercoins webpage on the 72P varieties, here's a link. It's very good. I've printed it out and use it as a reference. '72-P Types

Oooops! image Sorry about the previous post by notlogical. I wrote it, but didn't realize I was in my son's account. image When I saw CU forum on the screen I assumed I was in my account. That's what happens when you have 2 numismatists in the house. image The author has changed but the sentiment remains.

But why is finding T12 & T3 Cherry picking? These are the common varieties.
Give Blood (Red Bags) & Platelets (Yellow Bags)!
  • well for me it would be the thrill of the hunt ,sence i have never been to a show. the t1 amd t3 are the comman of the three Ikes but the thrill of finding that t2 would be fun. and all i need are these three to complete my Ike set. then its off the the SBA dollar to finish that set, LOL only need 4 there. but there easy to find.

My pardon, I was using the term "cherry picking" euphemistically to describe the act of hunting for the varieties. image

All correct...the Types I and III won't cost you much in those grades and are easy to find, but the Type II is a different story. The "thrill of the hunt" definately applies to this variety. I've been looking and looking and looking and I've found maybe one or two over the years. NOTHING in high grade howeverimage

    Good luck!
