  • Am I close with this grading?

    Polierte Platte = PROOF
    Stempelglanz = CH/GEM
    Vorzüglich = AU/BU
    Sehr schön = XF
    Schön = VF
    Sehr gut erhalten = VG/F
    Gut erhalten = G

    Off on a few there... vorzüglich carries over as XF, though sometimes (not so often anymore!) higher German standards can place it nearer to AU.

    These are the German grading equivalents, sometimes standards are higher--though in truth they have the same phenomena with dealers as we do in the US:
    PP / polierte platt = proof
    st / stempelglanz = UNC
    st/vz / stempelglanz/vorzüglich = AU
    vz / vorzüglich = XF
    ss / sehr schön = VF
    s / schön = F

    Also handy to know is fast, which means "almost". So when you see a fast vorzüglich coin it carries over as aXF. Likewise, fast stempelglanz can be used instead of vz/st for AU.
  • Cool Thank you!!
